Software Release Notes



Version 3.6
Date: 1/15/08

New Features:
None.

Corrections:
1.  Printing of data captures with header information is improved.
2. User units with offset copy function is enhanced.
3. Improved the methods for archiving data captures.
4. Leading spaces in files names is no longer allowed.
5. For the Dash 18 only, must exit to operating system to change the IP address based on Windows 98 operating system.

Version 3.5
Date: 4/9/07

New Features:
1. The user can now exit the D18X software and enter the operating system through the file pull-down menu.
2. A standard/scientific calculator is now available in review mode. A useful tool integrated into the D18X.
3. When archiving, the D18X will now automatically split large files (>2GB) into 2GB captures for access by FAT 32 Windows environments.The user can now access the IP configuration menu the D18X software.  No need to enter the operating system. The IP configuration can be accessed through either the “Service” menu in “Realtime” mode or through the “Utilities” screen.
4. The “Utilities” screen can be accessed under the “Configuration” pull down menu. An icon has been added to the “Utilities” screen to enter the IP configuration setup.
5. In “Review” mode, under “File/Delete Current Capture File” pull down menu, the user can now delete the file that they are currently reviewing on either the
data capture or archive (system) drives. To avoid the accidental deleting of files, the D18X software also prompts the user before deleting a file being reviewed.
6. The calibration screen is now password protected using the system password. The calibration menu can be accessed by selecting “Service/Calibration” in “Realtime” mode.
7. The calibration screen now has an icon to reset the thermocouple calibration for a channel. This allows the user to clear the calibration when the incorrect values were used to calibrate the channel.
8. The latest D18X manual is available under the “Help/Online Help Menu”.

Corrections:
1. The range calculation has been adjusted for voltage and thermocouple inputs to provide more accurate thermocouple calibration.
2. The information window of “Scope” mode data captures has been adjusted for to provide more accurate cursor measurements.
3. When connecting to a Windows based printer, the D18X now prints a full page based on the user selection of either landscape or portrait printing.

Version 3.3

New Features:
1. The
number of decimal places to be displayed can now be specified.
2. Notes with data capture: One-touch programmable notes are now available.  Allows user to pre-program notes with custom text.
3.  Data capture review automation:  During auto-review or auto-playback, the ability to auto-rearm for a new capture is added.
4. Increased the number of media format types supported for the DVD/CD burner.
5. Engineering units:  Ability to enter scale factor in terms of voltage or in terms of units.

Corrections:
1. Allow the help screen to be viewed again once the help window is inactivated.
2. Printer Setup menu is no longer grayed out when no printers are added.  Allows for convenient addition of a printer.
3. Thermocouple calibration factors are now maintained with the global file.

Version 3.2
Date: 1/23/06

New Features: Trigger capabilities have been enhanced.  A periodic trigger is available so users can trigger on time intervals.  Also, a date and time trigger is available where users can set a specific date and time to produce a trigger.

Corrections: For the SCR-8 printer, channel reporting has been corrected when changing views.  Under advanced signal settings, filter settings are now properly reported.  The Paint button no longer remains hidden behind the main application when it is deactivated.  It is now possible to return the button to the front.  Improvements have been made to the Das 18 regarding external data media recognition for archiving data captures.

Version 3.0
Date: 2/03/05

New Features:
Adds support for the Dash 18X.  This system software is compatible for both the Dash 18 and the Dash 18X.

Corrections: Improved the peak detector search in data capture review to accept more than 3700 peaks.  If data capture review is changed from samples to time review, the time review setting is now used when reopening the data capture.  Channel subtraction is expanding to support channels with different settings.  Improved channel archive to support archive of part of the data capture.  Corrected channel labels to prevent more than the allotted characters to be added.

Notes: Adds support for the Dash 18X.  This system software is compatible for both the Dash 18 and the Dash 18X.





Version 2.1
Date: 12/30/03

New Features:
None.

Corrections: Version 2.0 introduced enhancements for the Dash 18 Offline program operating on PCs with Windows XP. The enhancements resulted in improper access of embedded scope, sound and picture files.
Version 2.1 corrects the access of these embedded files.
Because this correction was discovered shortly after the release of version 2.0, version 2.0 was never made available as a web download.

Notes: To improve the responsiveness of the Dash 18 Offline program running on PCs with Windows XP operating system, changes were made regarding access of files. Before upgrading, please review the procedure regarding upgrading the Dash 18 system software.

New Features:

Auto Review - upon completion of a data capture, review of the data can now be automated.
Auto Review with chart playback -
upon completion of a data capture, review of the data can now be automated along with automatic playback of data to the optional SCR-18 printer.
Dash 18 Offline - ability to arm multiple Dash 18 units via TCP/IP. Includes capture status monitoring as well as upload and review of data.

Corrections: Improve the zoom feature and X-Y plotting for data capture review. Improved scroll bar usage in scope mode.

Notes: To improve the responsiveness of the Dash 18 Offline program running on PCs with Windows XP operating system, changes were made regarding access of files. Before upgrading, please review the procedure regarding upgrading the Dash 18 system software.

XYY plot now available for both Realtime and Data Review modes.

The Meter Bar in Realtime mode now has three font choices.
Ability to merge multiple data capture files into a single file.
For data capture notes, additional features are added such as goto search, view list with partial note content, first note can contain analog settings, ability to add additional notes in Review Mode.

Corrections:
Improved filter selection for DC Bridge and Thermocouple type channels.
Improved filter type change from the frequency counter to other filter types.
Slope measurements using cursors overlayed on top of each other will not affect Dash 18 operation.
Thermocouple quick cal has been replaced with a two-point scale to level calibration.
Calibration data for all channels can be printed to an external printer without affecting Dash 18 operation.
Improved operation of data capture for large numbers of data captures.
Disabling user scaling for multiple channels of the same type is now possible.

Adds support for the ECD-RW external CD-RW drive.

Corrections:
Adds support for data capture files with read-only
attributes such as those on a CD-R. Improves conversion of data to ASCII when IRIG time code is used.

Notes: There is no release of Dash 18 Offline with this release. There will be a release with the next version.




Version 1.8

New Features:
Addition of many new host commands such as load setup files, line print mode, etc.
Launch button added to utilities page.

Corrections:
For bridge balance using the signal invert feature, proper values are now reported.
For the German language version, offset introduced when using a high pass filter is corrected.
Added notice to the calibration routine alerting the operator who attempts to calibration without selecting any channels.
For data capture review using the SCR-18 printer, grid labeling of channel values is now correct for all valid offset values.

New Features: Progress bar added to show status when purging files.

Corrections: System defaults will now default all amplifier modules including math and waveform tags. Additional system checks to prevent false errors during power on sequence. Advanced Search now works properly when user units are enabled.

New Features: Supports for IRIG H time code added. FFT available with scope mode. Cursor measurements are enhanced by allowing color choice for cursors or reverse image (invert) for cursors.

Corrections: Corrected possible delay when switching modes when data capture sample rate is set to 1 Hz. Improved conditions for entering channel offset values.

Version 1.5
Date: 1/29/02

New Features: Dual sample rate now available where channels can be captured amongst two selectable sample rates. See note below.
Lookback feature while capturing allows data review while capture is still in progress. See note below.
Supports the Dash 18-IR (IRIG time code capable version of the Dash 18).
Remote halt capability using the utility port is added.
External sample rates for data capture are now supported.

Corrections: Improved operation of abort slew rate settings.

Notes: Version 1.4 and higher versions support screen dumps to the SCR-18 optional printer. To use the screen dump feature described above, the SCR-18 printer driver must be installed.
For dual sample rate and lookback feature while capturing, no pre-trigger data can be selected. Must use 50 kHz sample rate or less for the faster sample rate.

New Features: Supports screen dump to SCR-18 optional printer. Ability to acquire different channels at different sample rates.

Corrections: Control panels with multiple rows loaded over a control panel with one row now properly displays all rows without a refresh.

Notes: To use the screen dump feature described above, the SCR-18 printer driver must be installed.



Version 1.31

New Features: None.

Corrections: Improved ASCII archive of data capture records.

Notes: Before upgrading from version 1.2 or earlier, DirectX 8.0a must be installed on the Dash 18. Upgrading from version 1.1 or earlier requires data capture hard drive format so records must be backed up prior to upgrade if you wish to keep the records.

New Features: Auto Archive added to data capture setup.
Support for multiple file archive at one time.
User units support degrees Fahrenheit.
FFT plots now support Logarithmic & Magnitude Squared options, and cursor measurements are added to FFT review.
Calibration menus make use of user scaling units.
Data capture and scope capture files can be archived to ASCII.

Corrections: Playback of capture data to the SCR-18 printer now supported. User scaling units are saved with the setup file. Cursor function choices now inactive when cursors are no longer on the screen.

Notes: Before upgrading from version 1.2 or earlier, DirectX 8.0a must be installed on the Dash 18. Upgrading from version 1.1 or earlier requires data capture hard drive format so records must be backed up prior to upgrade if you wish to keep the records.



Version 1.2

New Features: Supports the acquisition and review of sound files with data capture. Ability to start / monitor captures from review mode.

Corrections: Corrects error in X-Y plot labels.

Notes: This upgrade will require you to format the data capture hard drive. Doing so will destroy any existing data capture files that you have so you must archive those files you wish to keep.
