Aerospace

Astro-Med recorders and data acquisition systems are used throughout the world in critical aerospace applications. In flight test control rooms, structures labs, manufacturing facilities and remote test sites, Astro-Med recorders are hard at work for our customers.

Below are just a few of the aerospace and defense applications for Astro-Med’s data recording products.

  • Flight test

Whenever the space shuttle takes off, a new satellite is launched, a missile is fired or an airplane or helicopter is tested, there are usually multiple Astro-Med recording system hard at work behind the scenes. From flutter testing to range safety, Astro-Med data recorders are the recorder of choice for critical applications:

  • Telemetry Facilities: satellite data stations,
data reduction labs, quick-look facilities
  • Flight Testing Telemetry: flutter testing, loads testing,
flight safety testing, missile testing

Astro-Med’s telemetry recorders are in use by most major aerospace companies and flight test facilities, such as:

  • L3 Communications
  • United Space Alliance
  • US Navy
  • NASA
  • Boeing Helicopter
  • NSWC Pax River
  • Boeing Commercial Airplane
  • Vandenberg Air Force Base
  • Boeing Integrated Defense Systems
  • Edwards Air Force Base
  • Lockheed Martin Tactical Aircraft
  • NSWC China Lake
  • Bell Helicopter
  • US Army
  • Airbus Industries
  • Raytheon Missile Systems
  • ITT Corporation
  • Wyle Laboratories
  • Eurocopter
  • Bombardier Aerospace
  • Agusta Westland
  • BAE Systems
  • Mobile telemetry (telemetry trailers)

For airborne flight test applications, Astro-Med offers ruggedized flight test data recorders that can be used in-flight. They meet MIL-STD requirements for shock vibration and are designed to fly wherever you do.

  • Airborne data recording

For many mobile telemetry applications, the products listed on the Flight Test page are appropriate. When space is at a premium, use one of our portable data recorders, which feature high speed data recording in a portable system and include decoding and time stamping of data with
IRIG B.

  • Stationary testing

Astro-Med portable data recorders are widely used throughout the aerospace industry for applications such as horizontal rocket motor testing, explosives/squib testing, launch pad testing, munitions testing and vibration testing.

Customers for these applications include Orbital Sciences Corporation, Honeywell International, Woodward Governor, Hamilton Sundstrand, Raytheon, Boeing, Lockheed Martin, BAE Systems and L-3 Communications.

For rack-based test stands, rackmount versions of all portable data recorders are available.
